N-B Videos: Miss Wells 2014 contest

The Miss Wells County 2014 and the first-ever Miss Wells County Teen were named Monday night. Learn more about the pageant in the Tuesday, July 22 News-Banner.

Each year before the Miss Wells County contest, the young ladies perform a prepared dance. This year's number was to Martina McBride's "This One's for the Girls."

N-B Video: Two brave reporters take on the zip line

Strap into a harness. Climb two flights of stairs. Get hooked onto the line. Stand on the edge while the door opens. Grab the handle bar. Squat like you're sitting and step off the ledge.

For the first time in Wells County 4-H history a mobile zip line attraction is being offered for fairgoers. The ride opened Monday evening and will be open again from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 22. For $5, thrillseekers can make the 30-foot drop on the 100-foot line.

Seven Wells County 4-H members sought to serve as ambassadors while six others sought the junior ambassador titles during the annual 4-H opening night awards ceremony. Among the 13, Rachel Makowski and Alexandria Huffman were selected as the senior ambassadors, and Sam Jones and Abe Herr were selected as the junior ambassadors.
