LANCASTER 4-H AWARDS NIGHT HELD

4-H members in the Lancaster Achievers 4-H Club were recently honored at their annual 4-H Achievement Night held at the Wells County Community Center at the 4-H Park, Bluffton.

Township Record Books were presented to: Brandon Springer, Aerospace and Models; Emily Elder, Arts & Crafts; Bree Anna Bailey, Beef; Autumn Hoover, Cake Decorating; Tricia Moser, Cat Poster and Rabbit Poster; Brittany Barger, Child Care and Foods; Harley Link, Collection, Flowers, and Poultry; Bryant Barger, Construction Toy and Dog Poster; Ashlyn Mills, Dairy; Shane Fiechter, Dairy Feeder Steer; Lance Clark, Electric and Swine; Elisse Huss, Garden & Strawberry; Caitlin Link, Gift Wrapping and Vet Science; April Steffen, Photography; Bekah Coolman, Rabbit; Kayla Hanni, Scrapbooking; and Ethan Bailey, Wildlife.

County Record Book Awards were presented to: Brandon Springer, Models; Brittany Barger, Child Care and Foods; Harley Link, Poultry; Ashlyn Mills, Dairy; Elisse Huss, Strawberry; and Caitlin Link, Vet Science.

Outstanding Record Books submitted at the County Fair are judged by 4-H Leaders and submitted for township and county awards. Accuracy, completeness, and neatness are the major factors considered in the judging.

Colton Dettmer was presented the first year 4-H Electric Awards which are sponsored by United REMC and other Rural Electric Cooperatives across Indiana.

Sherry Johnson shared information from the Wells County 4-H Foundation and their activities at the 4-H Fair. High school seniors were encouraged to apply for the scholarships that are sponsored by the 4-H Foundation. Volunteers are also needed for the group in 2011.

Roger Sherer, 4-H Extension Educator presented a PowerPoint program on highlights of the year. Volunteers were thanked for their help with the annual Street Fair Pancake & Sausage Booth and the Rodeo. Wells County Farm Bureau was recognized for their sponsorship of 4-H pins and support of the Achievement Program.

4-H Club Leaders Rob & Jenni Hoover were thanked along with 4-H Associaiton and Council members Kent & Tracey Ulmer.

Additional adults are needed for the Association and Council next year. Interested adults may contact the Wells County Extension Office, 824-6412.

The 4-H program is organized by the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service, Wells County, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
