Two Wells County 4-H members will be selected for this year’s Caley Memorial Award at the annual 4-H Fair, July 16-21. 4-H members 14 years of age or older can be considered for the award.
Judging is based on the following: 4-H, 45%; school, 20%; community service, 20%; church or youth group, 15%.
The award will consist of a $500 scholarship. Selection will be announced on Saturday, July 16th, at 7:30 PM on the opening day of the 4-H Fair.
The Caley Memorial Award is presented in honor of members of the Caley family, who were killed in an automobile accident in 1965 on their way to the 4-H Fair. Bill, the father, and four children — Kirby, Kent, Kris and Kevin — were all killed. Their mother, Marge, survived.
Applications for the award are available at the Wells County Office of the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service, 1240 S 4-H Road, Bluffton, IN 46714. For more information call 824-6412.
