What's Up? This stuff...

Edelweiss singers CD available
The newest CD by the Edelweiss Singers, is now available at Et Cetera Ecke, BernHaus Furniture, Swiss Village Boutique and Swiss Heritage Village Museum.
The CD includes Lil' Red Riding Hood and an arrangement of America, The Beautiful and more. The music was recorded at Cross Community Church during Swiss Days.

Arts Place Offering MusicWorks Classes in Blackford County
Arts Place is currently accepting registrations for fall MusicWorks lessons for students and adults to be held in Blackford County. Registration brochures are available at Arts Place, 131 East Walnut Street in Portland, and community locations in Blackford County. This is the third year Arts Place’s MusicWorks program is being offered in Blackford County. With the support of the Blackford County Community Foundation and the Opal Greenlee Memorial Fund, instruction will be offered at Blackford County Junior High School and Montpelier Elementary School. Class times are scheduled after school and during the evening through the week.
Individual lessons begin Aug. 30 and continue through May 6, 2011. A Group Piano Lab is offered for second grade students at Southside Elementary School. All classes meet weekly.
Registrations will be accepted at any time throughout the year. Students who register by Aug. 20, 2010 will receive priority consideration. After that date, students will be accepted on a space-available basis. Scholarships are available based on financial need.

Fort Wayne Mom's Night Out Aug. 26
The second annual Mom's Night Out will be held Aug. 26 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at Ceruit's Summit Park at 6601 Innovation Blvd. Fort Wayne.
Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
There will be more than 70 exhibitor booths, stage demonstrations, a fashion show, live entertainment and an array of heavy hors d'oeuvres.
The first 500 moms to arrive will receive a free reusable shopping tote filled with goodies.

Thursday Night Bingo Aug. 26
Thursday Night Bingo will be held Aug. 26 at Southwest Conservation Club located at 5703 Bluffton Road. Doors open at: 4:30 p.m. Warm-ups start at: 6 p.m. Regular Bingo starts at: 7 p.m. It is open to the public.

Bean Blossom Blues Festival Aug. 27-28
The Bean Blossom Blues, Brews and BBA will be held Friday, Aug. 27 and Saturday, Aug. 28 just five miles north of Nashville on State Road 135.
The “Bean” is a world class, three day long music party featuring national blues bands, a State Championship BBQ Contest, wine and beer tastings, food, camping and campfire jams.
Featured this year will be Kenny Wayne Shepherd, four-time Grammy nominated guitarist. Tickets are available at the gate.

Taste of the Arts
Aug. 28
Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne will present the region’s premiere arts festival-Taste of the Arts held in downtown Fort Wayne Aug. 28 from noon to 7 p.m., followed by “Dessert”-a showcase of local bands. Admission to the Taste of the Arts is free.
Festival activities will include:four stages that will showcase more than 26 different performances throughout the day, with two stages active at all times; facepainting, dance workshops, an instrument playground, and costume displays are just a sampling of activities to try. ARCH will offer hourly historic downtown walking tours and more.
Food will be available for purchase during the day. An Art Marketplace will feature a dozen artists selling their high-quality works and the Museum of Art will be open free all day.

Swiss Village Benefit Ride Aug. 28
Swiss Village will host its third annual Motorcycle Benefit Ride Saturday, Aug. 28. It will raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association. Cost is $10 a driver, and $5 a passenger. Registration begins at 9 a.m. in the Swiss Village North Parking Lot off of State Road 218 in Berne.
A door prize drawing will be available for participants, and lunch will be served following the ride at noon for $5. Guests are welcome to attend the luncheon even if they are not participating in the benefit ride.

Aug. 28
Members of Petroleum United Methodist Church will serve a free meal Saturday, Aug. 28 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
The public is welcome to come eat and enjoy an evening with friends.

Gospelfest Aug. 29
at Kehoe
Gospelfest will be held Sunday, Aug. 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kehoe Park in Bluffton. The event is free to the public.
Audiences provide own seating. Concessions include popcorn, frozen custard and soft drinks for sale at all concerts! In case of rain, see alternate sites listed for each event.

Free dinner at Life Church Aug. 29
Life Community Church will serve a free dinner Sunday, Aug. 29 from 5 to 6 p.m. at 428 S. Oak Street, Bluffton. Meals can be eaten at the church or carried out.
There is a limit of five carry out meals per person. For more information call 824-2252.

Trap and Skeet Shoot Aug. 29
A Trap and Skeet Shoot will be held Sunday, Aug. 29 from 12:30 p.m. to closing at Southwest Conservation Club located at 5703 Bluffton Road. It is open to the public.
