Two Wells County 4-H members will be selected for this year’s Caley Memorial Award at the annual 4-H Fair, July 17- 22. 4-H members 14 years of age or older can be considered for the award from applications submitted by adults and youth.
Judging is based on the following: 4-H, 45%; School, 20%; Community Service, 20%; Church or Youth Group, 15%
The award will consist of a $400.00 scholarship. Selection will be announced on Saturday, July 17th, 7:30 PM on the opening day of the 4-H Fair.
The Caley Memorial Award is presented in honor of the Caley family who were tragically killed in an automobile accident in 1965 on their way to the 4-H Fair. Bill, the father, and four children, Kirby, Kent, Kris and Kevin were all killed. Their mother, Marge, survived.
Applications for the award are available at the Wells County Office of the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service, 1240 S 4-H Road, Bluffton, IN 46714 or for more information call 824-6412. Applications and recommendations are due July 2nd.
