Applications are now being accepted for the 2010 Miss Wells County Pageant. The pageant is scheduled for Monday July 19 in conjunction with the 4-H Fair. The pageant is open to females ages 16-20 (must be 16 by August 15th). The local contest resembles the Indiana State Fair Queen Contest to which the Miss Wells County Pageant is a preliminary. The following rules have been developed by the pageant committee.
Each contestant must be a resident of Wells Co.
She must be unmarried and must never have been married, and cannot have had a child.
Each contestant must be an active member of at least one worthwhile organization.
No professional model is eligible for the contest. A professional model is one who earns her livelihood by modeling. A girl who works for a high school or college fashion board is not considered a professional model.
No previous Miss Wells County Queen may enter the contest.
Each contestant must be sponsored by a merchant, club or organization who will contribute $90 to defray the expenses of the contestant. Also the contestant must furnish her own transportation (car and driver) for the parade on July 17th.
The winner of this contest will be expected to represent Wells County at the Indiana State Fair.
The contestants will be judged on the basis of presentation, poise and personality. The judging is divided into three categories.
1. The professional wear competition reflects the image of today’s active women in a professional and social role.
2. The interview represents the business side of a women’s life-interacting with other people in the working world, knowing how to present herself when applying for a job, and how to carry on an interesting discussion.
3. The evening gown competition explores the more romantic side of life.
Workshops will be held on July 6 @ 6pm and July 13 @ 4:30 pm
